Are coarse grain reconfigurable architectures suitable for cryptography?

Cryptographic algorithms are increasingly used in personal transaction through Internet network, smart card and telecommunication applications. Those algorithms are well known for their high complexity data computing. This paper focuses on Montgomery algorithm, which computes modular multiplication efficiently. This operation is the most time consuming part of public-key cryptosystems. A compar...

Energy-Efficiency of the MONTIUM Reconfigurable Tile Processor

Primary requirements of wireless multimedia handheld computers are high-performance, flexibility, energy-efficiency and low costs. A compromise for these contradicting requirements can be found in a heterogeneous SoC. Besides conventional architectures such a SoC contains domain specific coarse grain reconfigurable processors and fine-grain reconfigurable entities. The MONTIUM is a prototype of...

Analysis of the Performance of Coarse-Grain Reconfigurable Architectures with Different Processing Element Configurations

Several coarse-grain reconfigurable architectures have been proposed in recent years that consist of a large number of processing elements connected together in a network. These architectures vary widely from each other – particularly, the processing elements (PEs) in these architectures range from simple functional units to entire RISC cores and micro-controllers. In this paper, we study the e...

Efficient and Flexible Dynamic Reconfiguration for Multi-Context Architectures

Dynamic reconfiguration is possible on both fine-grain and coarse-grain architectures. One of the used methodology used consists in the use of multi-context architectures. Unfortunately, the multiple contexts bring power and area overhead. This paper introduces the Dynamic Unifier and reConfigurable blocK (DUCK) concept, a new structure to perform efficiently dynamic reconfiguration on both cus...

Designing coarse-grain reconfigurable architectures by inlining flexibility into custom arithmetic data-paths

This paper introduces a design technique for coarse-grained reconfigurable architectures targeting digital signal processing (DSP) applications. The design procedure is analyzed in detail and an areatime-power efficient reconfigurable kernel architecture is presented. The proposed technique inlines flexibility into custom carry-save (CS) arithmetic datapaths exploiting a stable and canonical in...
